so its my mother's birthday today and also my parents' 29th wedding anniversary. i know right, wow. 29 years it actually happens, so much for hollywood putting 10 years as the ceiling on marriages haha. my mom is an incredibly strong woman, who has endured a multitude of hardship in her 51 years of being on this earth and even though everyday was an uphill task for her during her youth, she always would tell me how to use those circumstances as learning lessons and in a way, some sort of pruning of character. sure, we fight/yell/annoy the hell out of each other but she always comes back first with an apology no matter who's done wrong. it amazes me that such a tough woman, raised my sister, brother and i (of course my dad too), with as much love as someone who had been freely given love and taught to love, when she had not. she who would forsake herself to put us first and neglect her own needs. this is the selflessness of a woman i love and treasure, and i can only wish/hope/pray that she'll live to a ripe old age and see me live the life she always wanted me to have. happy 51st birthday mom! i love you <3
